Another ExpressionEngine Class Wraps
After a busy holiday weekend I can finally sit down and collect my thoughts about last week’s TipToe Through ExpressionEngine class.
Boyink to Speak at EE/CodeIgniter Conference
I’m excited to announce that I’ll be speaking at the first European ExpressionEngine and CodeIgniter Conference to be held in Lieden, The Netherlands October 22-23, 2009. More details and speaker announcements to follow, but so far I’ll be joining fellow EE mavens Ryan Ireland of EEInsider and Brandon Kelly.
Not only will this be my first trip abroad —but I’ll be leaving my hometown of Holland, MI USA to visit my ancestral homeland. I’m really curious to see how our local representation of the Dutch culture is similar or different to the actual culture of The Netherlands.
If you are in that part of the world stop by and say Hello in a language of your choosing.
Water from a Website Wrapup
The Water from a Website auction is a wrap - and I’d like to thank everyone who helped out by promoting the event or supporting via a purchase here on Train-ee.com.
The church site was purchased by the Okotoks Evangelical Free Church in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada.
Total monies recieved between the auction proceeds, donations and other fundraising was $1674.00.
Winners of the drawing for promoting the event were:
I’ve had initial conversations with the George - the pastor of the church - and work to move the site over will begin in a couple of weeks (just a better schedule for both of us).
New Screencast Published
I’m pleased to announce the latest Train-ee screencast: Relationships in ExpressionEngine. Content-wise the 49 minute screencast takes you through a pretty thorough education around relationships - starting with definitions and concepts, then looking at ExpressionEngine specifically, and then wrapping up with a look at 3rd party relationship extensions from Brandon Kelly and Solspace.
Design-wise this is the first screencast that matches the current look and feel of Train-ee, and a hat tip goes out to Jesse Schutt for the snazzy intro, ending and slide style.
Purchase includes a downloadable .MOV file, text versions of code templates used in the screencast, and PDF versions of the script and slides.
Water from a Website Auction
It’s with great pleasure (and not a little trepidation) that I’m finally able to announce the Train-ee “Water from a Website” auction. My hope is that by the end of the event on May 9th, a church will get the ExpressionEngine-based website built during the Building a Church Website tutorial series and we will have raised enough money to fully fund a fresh water well through charity:water.
I say “we” because I need your help.
To see a short video I put together, learn more about the project and the different ways you can help head over to the Water from a Website section.
