Web4Water Auction Website Goes Live
Just a quick note to say that the winner of the Train-ee web4water auction has launched the website that was auctioned off. The church is the Okotoks Evangelical Free Church in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada and the URL is http://okotoksefc.ca/.
Portland EE Meetup
One of the things we like to do when taking the ExpressionEngine class on the road is to encourage some community-building by mixing local EE people together with the folks who showed up for the class. It’s in that vein that I’m pleased to announce the details of the next Train-ee / ExpressionEngine meet-up.
Get a Preview of EE 2.0 in Portland
Just in case you missed the announcement on the ExpressionEngine blog, EllisLab will be attending our Be True to ExpressionEngine class in Portland, OR in July. Rick Ellis, Leslie Camacho, and Lisa Wess will be doing a EE 2.0 preview, open Q&A time and more (details at the link above).
See you there!
Train-ee Student Launches Site for National Brand
It’s with a “proud parent” feeling that I announce that Train-ee student Nick Rivera of 2GoCreative has launched an ExpressionEngine-based site for Leslie Sansone’s Walk at Home program. For those of you not familiar with Walk at Home - it’s quite a big deal. Walk at Home materials can be found at Wal Mart, Sam’s Club, Costco, Target, K Mart, and Best Buy, and Leslie has been featured on the Today Show, The Morning Show and The 700 Club.
Nick was another Train-ee Scholarship winner - so all of you in the EE community who sponsored the Southern Fried ExpressionEngine last January can take a little pride in this site launch. Congrats Nick!
Train-ee and Students Making News
Train-ee and former Train-ee student Lauren Gray are featured in an article on RapidGrowthMedia.com. After being laid-off the week before, Lauren won a scholarship to the Southern Fried ExpressionEngine class last January. She has gone on to start her own company - FlipBox Studios. What the RapidGrowth article didn’t make clear is that Lauren’s scholarship was made possible by a number of generous sponsors from within the ExpressionEngine community.
I can’t say it enough - I’m proud to be part of a community where people are able to look past themselves and help others in need.
